Janet is much missed by her husband, Roger and many friends.

together with Roger, as members of the Ramblers’ Association, to developing Cambridgeshire footpaths.

Messages of condolence

In memory of my sister in law, Janet and to conserve the natural world which she loved so much.

Ms Ginnie Moreton

In memory of Janet and the lovely times we had together exploring the paths of the city and South Cambridgeshire. She was a lovely person to know and I will miss her friendship and the walks we had together. May Janet rest in peace. Condolences to Roger.

Mrs Joye Rosenstiel

With fond memories of Janet who made me so very welcome on walks when I moved to the area and whose knowledge of wild flowers was as breathtaking as her familiarity with the local area.

Dr Paul Sackin

I shall miss Janet, but not half as much as Roger will. She was a good friend & helped me with practicing walks I had offered to lead. She never tired of identifying wild flowers for me & others too I am sure.

Mrs Ruth Potts

Many of us owe a debt of gratitude to both Janet and Roger for their tireless work as County Footpath Officers, but on a more personal note, Janet was so kind to me when I was widowed and very supportive of my autistic daughter joining in walks. I shall always remember her for her positivity and boundless energy. A life well spent! Phyl

Roger, on meeting you and Janet over 40 years ago my life changed. I will remember her forever. As a team you were remarkable. Not only is there a legacy of footpaths, waymarks and bridges, a record of endeavour and achievement, a lasting memory of energy and competence but also the immortal influence of a couple who cared. You cared for the natural world and you cared for people. I am grateful. Alan.

Mr Alan Parks

Fond memories of Janet from Ramblers walks - her's and Roger's knowledge of so many routes, enhanced by her interest in and ability to identify wild flowers, their pleasant company and, latterly, her care of Roger following his stroke and her positive attitude to her own diagnosis of Parkinson's disease. Janet will be much missed; a sad loss indeed.

Miss Angela Palmer

To Roger, we wish you good memories of happy times that you spent with Janet, Judith and Paul Littman (Ginnie’s sister and brother in law)

Mr & Mrs Paul and Judith Littman

Dear Janet, quite soon after I left Cambridge, I learnt that I could no longer match your and Roger's prowess as walkers. I ventured back one wet weekend in the '70s, and the two of you took me for a muddy tramp through the Shelfords, a mere 8-10 miles I think. In the middle, Janet, you suddenly engaged overdrive and vanished ahead on a dreary piece of road, saying afterward that you liked to "burn off the boring bits". It turned out later that I had pulled a thigh muscle in trying to keep up with you! Thereafter I was happy to follow your remarkable progress through your Christmas newsletters. We drew closer in the recent years when Roger became less mobile, and in particular it was an honour to visit you both so much over the last year. You rewarded me by taking me to see two flowers I had never seen before in my life - the oxlips near Wimpole and the lizard orchids near Newmarket. But I shall always treasure - typical of your kindness - your words in your last Christmas card to me: "like the brother I never had". With love and fond memories Adrian

Mr. Adrian Conrad
