Alan will be greatly missed in Little Shelford. I hope this goes a little way to help to find a cure for this devastating illness.
Mrs Sarah Penn
In memory of a sociable, cheerful and brave man who supported his wife and family in every aspect of their lives.
“I’ll be embraced by all the family and friends I’ve ever known.
Although I might not see their faces, all our hearts will beat as one,
And the circle of our spirits will shine brighter than the sun.”
The Next Place - Warren Hanson
Mrs Jenny Edey
I was in my 5th Year at Queen Edith's Grammar School For Boys when Alan joined the staff. I was not in his Maths class but he took us for rugby (union!). In the Sixth Form, those who were Arts, and not Sciences, were offered one period per week of ''Maths Appreciation''. Alan took us for that element of my Sixth Form success.
Alan remembered me years later at the funeral of Rowland Parker of Foxton then again in November 2022 at the funeral of Jack Hampshire, also of Foxton. I was moved that he remembered me.
Richard Byrtus (now of Royston)
Mr Richard BYRTUS
In memory of Alan Varty ... we were very pleased to have made it to the funeral and convey our condolences to the family.
Mr & Mrs Peter & Pauline Bramworth
Val, we hope that people do respond generously and that one day a cure can be found and ease the misery and hurt that many people currently have to cope with.
Mr & Mrs JIm and Jill McMenemy
In memory of Alan Varty.
Mr Richard Preston
To Valerie and family with my sadness at Alan's death. I will be thinking about you all and of the happy years we spent next door at Courtyards. Starting in Derwent Close, our memories stretch back a long way.
Take care.
